Movement perfectionism and changing states.
We can often get caught up in what the perfect movement plan, program or routine is but this all changes when life becomes chaotic, set backs happen, responsibilities pile up and kids arrive with a spinning round-houses to the face at 5 in the morning.
Those three one-hour gym routines go out the window, as you wrestle backward and forward on whether you should even go at all. By the time you change, get to the gym and get started your dedicated time has already run out. Thankfully, you can get a great 20 minute movement session in anywhere at all - with very little need for a gym membership. The training isn't even the worst part, it’s how we beat ourselves up for not living up to some sort of perfect ideal.
Be gentle with yourself, and start with something so simple it’s silly.
Do 1 push up. You will feel silly doing 1 but start with 1. Turn on 1 song in your kitchen and dance.
Movement perfectionism doesn’t exist, it’s an evolving state.
